Product Description

This 608-2RS miniature radial ball bearing has red double seals and a nylon cage, and conforms to the ABEC 1 precision standard. This light duty bearing has an 8 mm bore diameter, a 22 mm outside diameter, and a 7 mm width. Its precision is rated at ABEC 1 by the Annular Bearings Engineers Committee (ABEC), allowing higher speeds and creating lower friction than less-precise ball bearings, and its radial internal clearance is C3 for radial slack between the inner and outer rings is greater than CN (normal) to compensate for thermal expansion. This bearing is made of ASTM International 52100 steel and heat treated to increase hardness for optimum wear resistance. Its deep ball grooves in both races support high radial and axial loads, its straight bore fits conventional cylindrical shafts, and its nylon cage prevents the balls from coming into contact with each other during use, reducing friction, vibration, and noise. Removable single lip contact seals on both sides protect against contaminants and retain lubrication applied at manufacture. This ball bearing is suitable for use in skate boarding, inline skating, and other skating applications.

Rolling bearings use rolling elements to maintain the separation between moving parts to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads. These elements can be one of the following types: ball, cylindrical, spherical, barrel, needle, spindle, or tapered. All rolling bearings are open, shielded, or sealed. Sealed bearings are lubricated with oil or grease in the bearing factory, while open and shielded bearings are meant to be lubricated in place, with periodic reapplication of lubrication, based on use. The shield protects the working parts of the bearing from environmental debris that may be introduced and could reduce the ball bearing speed and lifespan. Rolling bearings are used in a range of applications from agricultural machinery to conveying equipment, robotics, dental equipment, elevators, rolling mills, ship rudder shafts, and aggregate crushers, among others.

Owner Comments & Criticism
I don't know how good these are for skateboards, but for my purposes, they were awesome.I found that a 5/8ths inch bolt fit almost perfectly through the center hole. Then, hand turning a nut over the bolt made for an excellent hold; the axle of the bearing housing sticks out just enough that the nut grips it without gripping the rest of the housing. The nut also made an excellent spacer for the PVC pipe cap that I eventually bolted it into. Heating a PVC joint with my hot air gun until it softened, the bearing pushed in easily, and the cooling plastic held it tight. Presto! A freely swinging, very secure joint with just a few parts.
